The problem this concept addresses

Independent roasters increasingly face buyer demand for transparency, but most traceability tools are built for large supply chains and dilute a roaster's own brand. RoastLedger explores whether a lighter, editorial-minded alternative could exist.

How it would work, if built

As proposed, a roaster would submit batch metadata — origin, roast date, lot number, optionally a lab report — through a simple form. The record would be timestamped on a public ledger and rendered as a QR-linked page for the bag. None of this infrastructure exists yet.

What is not yet true

There is no live submission tool, no ledger integration, no rendering pipeline, and no roaster currently participating. Nothing here verifies that roaster-submitted data is accurate, and no adoption, partnership or outcome is promised.

An open, uncertain question

A possible future is that some design-conscious roasters adopt a shared tagging format as a point of differentiation. This is speculative, depends entirely on voluntary uptake, and may never happen.

Does RoastLedger exist as a working product today?

No. RoastLedger is currently a concept and mechanism design only. There is no live submission form, ledger integration, or rendering pipeline in operation, and no roasters are using it.

Does the ledger verify that a roaster's batch data is accurate?

No. As proposed, the mechanism only timestamps whatever a roaster submits. There is no verification, auditing, or fact-checking layer, so false or careless input by a roaster could not be prevented or detected by the format itself.

What would the token actually do?

If used at all, the token is only proposed as a possible access or utility marker for submitting or rendering batch records on a future version of the platform. It would carry no equity, revenue share, or governance rights, and no such utility currently exists.

Is this a certification or regulatory-compliant labeling scheme?

No. RoastLedger is not a certification body and does not claim regulatory approval anywhere. How on-chain provenance claims would be treated under food labeling law in any jurisdiction is untested and unresolved.

Will roasters actually adopt this format?

That is unknown and unpromised. Adoption depends entirely on voluntary uptake by independent roasters, which has not yet happened and may never happen at any meaningful scale.
